Kalfi LEAD Program
Leadership Excellence. Accountability. Discipline. Young women leading from experience aiming to make a difference.
KALFI LEAD is a 4-year leadership program which provides a long term-character development program for senior high school and college/university student leaders through personalized mentoring, delivery of project management modules, constant outreach participation, and regular exposure to talks, workshops, and interactions with fellow program beneficiaries.
The KALFI LEAD Leadership Program, or LEAD for short, aims to train and nurture servant leaders for the future. LEAD places a strong emphasis on moral integrity and social responsibility. The Program is likewise marked by the following features: it fosters academic excellence and mastery of leadership principles; it imparts a unique personal human development through regular one-on-one mentoring with seasoned professionals; and it inculcates in the students the attitude of giving back to society through constant service and, through one’s work, concrete contribution to the nation’s development. Since LEAD seeks to train and nurture future transformative leaders, each LEAD student is expected to be committed to:
Service
Excellence
The motto is “Lead to serve.” Thus, the chief quality sought in the LEAD beneficiary is the attitude of and ability to SERVE, i.e., self-giving.
Leadership
In LEAD, we are interested in students who “take the lead” by, first, developing themselves as complete human persons, then, giving of themselves to attend to others. Thus, the LEAD student manifests an understanding of the need for exercise of virtues, including moral integrity, chastity, honesty, hardwork, a constant habit of study, humility, generosity and magnanimity, among others.
In most universities, when selecting possible ‘Leadership Awardees,’ a minimum requirement is good academic standing. This is necessary, as leaders are expected to lead competently. Thus, LEAD has set a minimum expectation of Cum Laude standing (or its equivalent) from every LEAD beneficiary.
Accountability and Discipline
A “desire to serve” is banal if one pays only lip service to it. Thus, the LEAD student shows signs of actual action steps from the very start, e.g., she makes reference to concrete initiatives she embarks on, e.g., taking on a leadership position, or getting involved in a regular outreach project or volunteer work, etc.
